I would like to add another example: the member corporations of the RIAA and MPAA.
Their refusal to unlearn their old business models, and adopt new models (MP3s being sold individually, for example) has driven customers away.
And in response, rather than adapt to changing customer desires and new technologies, they have tried to litigate and lobby in order to enforce their old way of doing things… which has driven even more customers away, and has probably done irreparable harm to their own industry.
